About the GFA library
The GFA Library is a centre of academic, learning and research activities in the Academy.. It provides students and scholars access to wide range of reference materials, such as multiple professional encyclopedias, numerous books, and thousands of magazines. An effective use of it is as compelling as it is necessary. It is the largest single source of knowledge and information within the Academy. It also comprises of Digital Library services For Distance Library patrons.
The GFA Library is situated in a place which shields it from noise and predisposes it to learning and research. it has a spacious accommodation for an educational technology centre.
Membership of the Library is free and open to all students, Academic staff, senior administrative and technical staff of the Academy. In exceptional cases, readers outside these categories may be allowed to use the library. In such circumstances a special permit may be issued to such a person through a formal application made to the GFA Librarian.

- Weekend, and Public Holidays: Closed

This time schedule may change in course of time to include more hours of service. Notices shall be. displayed on Library notice board from time to time to indicate change in opening and services to users.
Registration of Users
All readers must register with the library and renew such registrations at the beginning of each succeeding session. Upon registration, a reader shall be issued with an identity card and ticket which entitle him to borrow books from the library as appropriate. Registered readers shall be required to carry their identity cards to gain admission into the library as these may be demanded by the security staff.
Collections
The library has a modest collection of books, journals and a few government publications at the present and is embarking on an aggressive collection development programme. As soon as the Educational Technology Centre comes on stream, the library shall subscribe to the British Council’s Film Library, And other subsequent libraries.
The library has 24 hours power supply And Internet services , Solar energy is the source of power to the Library.
Lending
Library materials are for use. Majority of these materials are normally made available to readers to borrow and use outside the library. Because resources are limited, readers can only borrow few numbers of books at a time and return them to the library within specified period so that the resources can go round. For the meantime and given the number of materials meant for borrowing, Students are allowed to borrow one book at a time and return same within 7 days from the date of borrowing. Academic staff, senior administrative and technical staff are allowed two books for a period of 14 days. Readers may renew the loans made on the materials. The library may recall any of the materials before the expiration of the loan period. On no circumstances shall a book borrowed from the library be carried beyond Ihiala Local Govt. Area without an explicit permission of the GFA Librarian, Fines shall be imposed at the rate of #50 Naira per day for the number of days a book is kept overdue with the borrower.
Reference
The Library exists to assist readers to solve their library and information problems. At all times emphasis is placed on interaction between readers and senior staff of the library especially the Reference Librarian. The aim is to facilitate the quick location, retrieval and exploration of library resources. In addition to these the library can arrange to obtain materials original or photocopy - for users from other source on special request. Readers may be required to pay a fee where extra costs involved.
Photocopies, Printing, Scanning of Documents
The library has a Printing, Scanning And photocopy machine where readers can make copies of materials meant for learning and research purposes only. Fees which compare favourably with what obtains within The community are charges for such services.
Digital Library services
The Digital Library has every single library material in soft copy and makes it accessible by different users at different locations at the same time, with or without visiting the Library. Under the Digital Library, is the Virtual Library through which other Libraries world over links to our Library to gain access to all the collections of our Library.
The Digital Library electronically links up the GFA Library to the Libraries at the different Campuses and Colleges of the different institutes thereby creating total access to all collections of all the libraries from any of the higher institutions.
The Digital Library has deployed this website and the Institutional Repository to launch on the internet, all the Academy's research texts,Journals and all creative outputs in digital formats.
Library Computers
Library computers are available at the Digital Library to support teaching, learning and research and offer a variety of software. Current GFA students, and staff have unlimited access to these computers.
All other visitors computer access is available by joining the Library Premium Patrons.
Visitors may use library computers to access most of our licensed indexes and databases and electronic books while using library computer workstations.
Note: All users must agree to abide by Academy's Libraries’ policies.
Wireless Access
Wireless access will be available at The Academy Library And ICT Department via the Library network. General information on guidelines, set-up information, and technical standards can be found accessed by contacting the GFA Librarian or ICT Personel
Printing From a Library Computer
Black-and-white printing is available at the Academy Library . Color printing is also available Library on an affordable fee
Printing From Your Laptop
Windows and Mac users can print from their laptop at the GFA Library
Photocopying
Photocopiers are available at the Library. Library staff are available to assist with the copying and any copy questions that may arise.
Scanning & Digitization
Scanning and digitization work can also be done in the Library
Library staff are available to assist with the use of these machines.
Extra Curricular Activities
The GFA Library organize and host book sales, author signings, and other reading events.
The GFA Library organize Books And literacy club,puppet shows and even fun events where local authors read from their books. Written and debate competition among it's patrons.
